Adoption Process

The Pets Limited Rescue Adoption Process has three basic steps:

1. Fill out and submit an application.
1. Please fill answer all questions honestly and completely to the best of your knowledge. Incomplete or missing answers my delay your application or cause it to be denied.
2. Please insure that your contact information is legible.
3. Please ensure that your references are filled out with contact information for each reference.
4. An application may be faxed to 703-342-0342 or it may be emailed to an adoption coordinator.
   (Please note: that if you email your application, you must ensure that it be signed it before final approval may be given.)


2. The application is then screened and references are checked.
1. Pets Limited Rescue does not approve adoptions on a first come-first served basis. All applications are reviewed concurrently and the best application is chosen for approval. We choose the best home based on the needs of the animal.
2. If you are not approved for a particular animal, you may be approved for another. Some of our animals have special needs. Not everyone is not capable of fulfilling the needs of these animals.
3. If there any questions about your application, we will attempt to contact you via the contact information given. If this information is illegible or missing, then your application may be delayed or denied.
3. Once your application has been screened, a home visit will be scheduled.
1. A home visit will be scheduled for each successful application. If there are multiple successful applications for an animal, there may be multiple home visits to determine the best match.
2. Based on the results of the home visit(s), an adopter will be selected. A contract will be completed and signed by both the adopter and a PLR Adoption Agent.
4. When an adopter is chosen, the adoption is finalized.
1. An Adoption Contract will be completed and signed by both the adopter and a PLR Adoption Agent.
2. The Adoption Fee is paid. All Adoption Fees include all vaccinations.
1. The Adoption Fee is $225 for puppies up to six months
2. The Adoption Fee is $200 for dogs older than six months up to seven years
3. The Adoption Fee is $175 for seniors (7+ years).

The adoption process usually takes about 7-10 days to complete, but may take more or less time depending on the number of applications received and number of volunteers available.
