HAPPY TAILS!

These are the stories of some of our adopted animals in their Forever Homes!

It is hard to imagine but every last one of these wonderful, loving animals would have been put to sleep. Instead, they have each found a happy home and a family that loves them very much.  We are so happy for these lucky guys but there are so many more animals in need of a home.  Even if you cannot adopt a pet at this time, please help us to help more of these amazing creatures by volunteering your time, becoming a foster parent, or making a donation to PLR. Thanks for your support!  We hope to see this list grow three times as long in the coming year!

Titan
(formerly Dutch)

"That boy absolutely loved the snow.  Weather doesn't seem to bother him other than super wind, he kinda sits still and observes what the high winds will do and then continues on.  But cold weather, rain, sleet, snow... he's out in all the time. Lola on the other hand is a bit prissy.  She won't go out if it's raining, doesn't mind the snow and definitely doesn't like the wind.  They are getting along great and both sleep in the bed every night.

He's no longer in the crate which I am sooo glad for.  The only thing is I think he is sooo much more interested in finding things to play with that he often will put off doing the "# 2" outside.  Sometimes you have to wait on him for a few minutes.  I think he waits until he absolutely can't hold it anymore.  But we love him and he's turned out to be an awesome pup!  Also, feel free to post the pics of him.  Hopefully it will help change the minds of those who would otherwise not feel comfortable with this type of dog.

He definitely has no problem doing exactly what he wants, for example, he lays on top of the pillows on the back of the couch instead of just on the cushions.. it's cute, when we walk in the door he just tilts his head back to see who's there. :)

Everybody loves him and he's gotten so big! He's managed to get out oft he fence twice. Once he jumped right over and the other time he found a loose plank in the fence and slipped right out. So we do watch him when he's outside at all times.

But... We can't thank you guys enough for making the whole adoption easy and a quick process because he fits right into our little family! Look forward to receiving his paperwork and again, feel free to post his pics online! It's hard to resist a face like his! Thanks so much for all your help and we will make sure to keep in touch!

"Daisy is doing great. She loves her new brothers and they love her. She learned to jump our new fence with in the first month so she has been challenging but we are all getting along great."

DIAMOND

"Diamond has adjusted well and has become one of the family. She loves playing with her 'big brother' and she is being spoiled rotten! We all love having her here, she's brought a lot of laughs and a lot of love with her... Diamond is the white/brindle terrier..."

CASEY
aka PEPPER

"Last year (May time frame) we were lucky to have found and adopted Casey (AKA Pepper). She has brought us so much joy and unconditional love. Casey was very quick to master commands such as sit, shake, and stay in a blink of an eye. She is as sweet and laid back as the day we met her - oh yeah.. she does have her moments when she runs at lightning speed around the back yard chasing the wind. After purchasing every known dog toy, her most favorite is an empty plastic bottle skimming over the grass.

She's very gentle with kids and loves to meet people and other dogs. Can you believe she's a year old and 61 pounds - she's just as cute as ever!"

CLOE
(formerly Blacky)

"Happy to let you know that our adoption has been so much of a success! We adopted Blackie, a treeing walker coon hound, in (I believe) March of last year. At the time she was six months old and we were in for about nine months of destruction. She grew super fast and ate everything in sight (or at least chewed on it) including my new cell phone and a CD! We renamed her Chloe when we brought her home and eventually I got smart and bought baby gates. That helped enormously...

We absolutely adore this dog. She now weighs about 55 pounds and her mouth when she opens wide looks like an alligator's. She has a habit when she's glad to see you of pulling back her lips and "grinning". It would terrify anyone who doesn't know her, but we know she's a gentle soul. She doesn't have a mean bone in her body. She and Travis (our cocker, also adopted) are great friends. She's still got enough puppy in her to run and play and harass Travis in a friendly way. But her days of chewing things she's not supposed to have are behind her. I have partially trained her, but we still have a little way to go. She is such a sweetheart. I've always wanted a big dog and a hound as well, so she is perfect. I can't say enough about how much my husband and I love her. She entertains us constantly... She loves to watch the animal channel and she and I curl up on the couch and watch dog shows together. Sometimes she gets carried away and goes over to bark at the TV."

SHADOW

Regarding Shadow: "If you recall, we are the ones who traveled from Pennsylvania to adopt her. She is a really good dog and is extremely tolerant of our 5-year old son who harasses her to no end (although we think she actually likes the attention. She is very smart and was relatively easy to house break. She had very few accidents in the house.

She has been to see the veterinarian regularly and we had her micro chipped and have purchased a life-time dog license for her."

KATIE

"We adopted Katie from Pat back in April of '05. She has been a wonderful new member to our family. My girls love her. My one daughter is dyslexic and having learning difficulties at school. Katie has really helped her to open up and not be so depressed all the time... Katie enjoys licking the dirty dishes clean in our dishwasher and sleeping on our living room couch. She is still a little shy but not as shy as when we first adopted her. I think she is learning to trust us and know that we are going to take good care of her. Thank you for letting her become part of our family."

LILY
(formerly Brownie)

"We (my wife Becky and I) adopted Lily (aka Brownie --- we renamed her) in early November....she is now 8 months old and is doing absolutely wonderful, truly!

Lily has been a real joy and has been doing great. Very smart! At about 6 months old, she could be trusted to stay in the house all day without any accidents, chewing, or other 'puppy' behavior. She made a whirlwind trip with us to families in PA and Massachusetts over the holidays and loved meeting her extended family --- and, was perfect in the long car rides.

She's really been a great addition to our family.....and, we thank you guys for all your support!"

PATCHES

"We are actually fosters for PLR. We first got Patches when he was returned to us. Even though he had a tough beginning (he was so unruly when we got him, he needed professional training), we saw the potential that he had. He just needed someone to love him, and for him to love in return.

We had no intention of adopting him as we already had Abby, our Lab of the same age, and we only live in a 2 bedroom apartment. But he just sort of fit; made himself at home. When he looked at us with his multi-colored eyes, it melted our hearts, and we couldn't say no.

Patches is doing great, now. He loves to play with Abby, his 'little' sister. We've discovered that he likes to jump on things, not people, so we're looking into agility training for him. He has become a very special part of our family."

JACK
(formerly Tango)

"Jack had a long trip from Virginia to New Jersey and has adjusted beautifully with our family. He is a kind and gentle dog. He is living on three acres of property and is secure in his new home. He and my toddler, Garrett, are having many playful moments together. Jack is extremely smart. We love him and he is well cared for. I hope that all your adoptions are going well. Jack is a large part of our family and we are extremely happy to have been able to adopt him from your organization and it has been a pleasure working with Pets Ltd. Rescue from start to finish."

PALADIN

"On Feb. 21, we will celebrate our 6-month anniversary with Paladin, who is a wonderful, loving, beautiful dog. Thanks to our veterinarian's hard work, Paladin's ear infection is completely gone and with regular cleaning probably will not return. As a result, he is comfortable with himself and with us. Our friends and neighbors are amazed at his progress. He now looks forward to his daily leash walks, frequent car rides, and weekend visits to the country to see our horses. The owners of the farm recently acquired a golden retriever puppy, and Paladin was simply fascinated. He is gentle with the puppy - he plays with him and even grooms him like a mother dog would. It is just unbelievable. With the older dog, he plays and runs but is never out of sight of his adoptive dad, Dennis.

We are thankful every day that Paladin came into our lives when we needed him so very much. In our case, there is no doubt he was the rescuer."

ZOEY
(aka Missy)

"We adopted Zoey (aka Missy) in October 2005. We weren't looking to adopt that day, but the moment we saw her we knew she would be the perfect addition to our family. She has a big brother, Apollo, who we adopted from another rescue group in October 2004. They get along very well. We took a road trip to Florida last month and they both just soaked up all the extra attention from family and friends. We love Zoey so much and are thankful to Pets Ltd for bringing us together."

MOXY
(aka Tag)

"We can't believe it's been a year since we adopted Moxie (Tag). She is such a wonderful companion and we're so lucky she came into our lives. We've done so many fun things with her, and we already have great memories from the past year. Recently, Moxie participated in the Maryland SPCA's "March for the Animals," where she walked with thousands of other dogs to raise money for the shelter."

CHARLIE

"We rescued Charlie from the Prince William shelter, and he stayed with us for 8 months. We just could not find the right home for him. Luckily, we finally found him the perfect place. He is now very happy, in love with the little girl (pictured), and gets along great with the other two dogs. We could not have asked for a better family"

PEPPER
(formerly Sasha)

We adopted Pepper (formerly Sasha) ... and couldn't be happier! At first, we couldn't figure out what to name her, because "Sasha" didn't seem like the right fit and once we saw her "spiciness", and her "pep" -- we just knew she was a Pepper!!

Pepper is now 9 weeks old, and growing like crazy! She is learning how to play tug of war, how to go to the bathroom outside, how to play chase around the kitchen, and how to just "be a dog" from her "older brother", Jesse James. Jesse and Pepper have gotten along like family from the very start. Sure, they have some sibling rivalry -- Pepper loves to antagonize her big brother -- but Jesse has been wonderful to our new family member, sharing his ice cubes with her, showing her the ins-and-outs of our house, and showing her who's boss when he needs to! Of course, we don't have the heart to let Jesse know that when Pepper is grown, she will tower over her "big" brother!!!

Having Pepper has truly added joy to our family. We can't wait to come home each day and be greeted by our two pups, see Pepper's little tail wagging and witness her unabashed excitement! We are so thankful for the new member of our family, and look forward to sharing many more stories over the years!"
